Increase Iran's share in energy trade by importing gas from Turkmenistan; Iran to create a gas hub in the Middle East.
With the resumption of gas imports from Turkmenistan, Iran will become a gas hub in the Middle East.

Seyyed Hamid Hosseini said that any increase in energy relations with neighboring countries will strengthen Iran's position in the global gas market and increase Iran's share in gas trade, adding: the development of gas trade with neighboring countries will lead to a better circulation of energy in the country.
He continued: Last winter, we faced a shortage of gas in the main branches, and this shortage was mainly in the northeastern regions of the country and near Turkmenistan, and this year, by importing gas from Turkmenistan, we can solve part of this problem. for lack of gas.
A member of the Union of Petroleum Exporters of Iran pointed out that importing gas from Turkmenistan can also contribute to the stability of gas supply for petrochemicals, and said: Considering the trend of Rising gas consumption in the domestic and commercial sectors, the petrochemical industry is facing a shortage of feed and cannot reach full capacity.
This is despite the fact that the country's total petrochemical needs for gas supply are about 40 million cubic meters, and importing gas from Turkmenistan will solve part of the gas supply shortage for the petrochemicals.
Affirming that the development of gas relations with Turkmenistan is a good initiative, Hosseini added: We have lost opportunities in this area for several years.
He clarified: "Turkmenistan developed its gas relations with other countries during these years, so we should have been more active in the negotiations, which happened under the 13th government and it succeeded."
Pointing out that one of the things that led to the signing of this contract was the payment of Iran's past debts to Turkmenistan, this energy market expert said: The 13th government was able to pay the debt of the Turkmenistan from Iran's resources in Iraq.
Hosseini highlighted Iran's goals of becoming the gas hub of the Middle East and added: In addition to importing gas from Turkmenistan, Iran can receive Russian gas from Turkmenistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan. and export it to other countries.
Before the war in Ukraine, Russia exported gas to Europe equivalent to 10 phases of South Pars, but now it has this excess gas in its possession.
He continued: Of course, to receive Russian gas from these countries, in addition to existing gas pipelines, new infrastructure must also be built.
