The value of processed products in the food industry is $100 billion, he continued: The food industry ranks third after oil and petrochemicals, which are the country's main sources of income.
We have around 15,000 small factories and workshops and around 20-30 large factories.
The total amount of agricultural and food products in the country is 201-301 million tons, part of which enters industry and is processed.

We import around 40 percent of consumption each year and 60 percent is supplied from the place of production.
This importation often takes place from India, Pakistan and Thailand.

Around 90% of the country's needs, or 10 million tonnes, are imported corn, mainly used for poultry feed.
This food industry expert adds: Part of the country's needs for infant formula is also imported, even if factories produce it locally.
