The second border bridge between Iran and Armenia is under construction .
The contract for the construction of the second border bridge between Iran and Armenia was signed to increase the traffic capacity of trucks and tractors between the two countries.
 

During the visit of the Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazarpash to Armenia, the contract for the construction of the Dezor import road to the tunnel exit (about 11 km) and the reconstruction of the Agarak road -Vardani Dezor (about 21 km) as part of the investment of the 4th North-South corridor by two Iranian companies and the representative of the Armenian government was signed.
During this trip, the issues of cooperation between the two countries regarding providing facilities to Iranian businesses, removing road tolls, promoting cooperation within the framework of the North-South Corridor and the Persian Gulf-Sea Corridor Black, the expansion of rail transport and the use of Iran's logistical and port capacities were discussed and there was an exchange of views.
The value of the contract for the implementation of road construction projects in Armenia by Iranian contractors is $210 million.
This contract is operational with the aim of completing the North-South corridor chains in the Caucasus region.
One of the priorities of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development in the 13th government was to pay attention to the development of public transport infrastructure.
In this regard, developing transit and reducing road tolls and freight transit tariffs to zero is one of the agendas of Iran and Armenia.
According to Tasnim, during yesterday's visit of the Minister of Roads and Urban Development to Armenia, an agreement was reached regarding the construction of the second border bridge due to restrictions on the movement of trucks and tractors from the current bridge.
To this end, it is decided to form as soon as possible a joint working group for the construction of the second border bridge, so that the contract can be concluded for the realization of this project.
Also, during the visit of the Minister of Roads and Urban Development, it was suggested to Armenians that Iranian companies build schools and dams in this country.
Mehrdad Bazarpash, Minister of Roads and Urban Development, stating that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports the Caucasus, which is peaceful, said: Our defined policy is based on peace in the region, and we have always upheld the integrity territorial territory of Armenia and we will continue this policy until we can take steps towards the development of a neighborhood policy.
Furthermore, since there are good opportunities in the field of transit and logistics development in Iran, we are trying to take advantage of these opportunities to expand our relations.
According to Tasnim, Mehrdad Bazarpash, Minister of Roads and Urban Development, visited Armenia at the invitation of Genel Sanousian, Minister of Regional Management and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia, and negotiated the expansion of cooperation in transport between the two countries.
