In an interview with ILNA, Fakhreddin Amrian, president of the Joint Chamber of Commerce of Iran and Brazil, estimated the total value of trade between the two countries at around $9 billion and, explaining further details the value of trade between the two countries, on both sides, he said: $7-8 billion worth of goods are sent from Brazil to Iranian imports, Brazil's imports to Iran include products from base such as corn, soy, soy flour, edible oil, sugar and meat.
He added: In contrast, Iran exports about $1 billion and $200 million worth of goods to Brazil every year, including about $200 million worth of non-petrochemical products and about $1 billion worth of petrochemical products, especially urea.
Amirian continued to talk about the continued flow of goods between the two countries and announced that in the near future, an Iranian trade delegation consisting of private sector activists would visit Brazil in cooperation with the Trade Development Organization.
The Chairman of the Iran-Brazil Joint Chamber of Commerce also informed about Iran's determination to establish a joint bank with Brazil and said: We are trying to establish a joint bank between Iran and Brazil. Brazil to conduct direct trade with this country by communicating with two Brazilian banks and the creation of a joint bank between Iran and Brazil, the result of which will be announced later.
He clarified: Currently, the economic exchanges of the parties are carried out in dollars and euros.
Amarian explained the reason for Iran's low presence in the Brazilian market compared to the volume of exports of Brazilian products to the Iranian market as follows: Iranian businessmen do not know much about the Brazilian market, the distance between Iran and Brazil is long. , and trade with it requires transport infrastructure. And there is a quote, currently Iranian ships do not go directly to Brazil.
He added: Iranians also have problems with financial transfers with Brazil, the same problem that exists in Iranian trade with other countries due to sanctions, so the preference of Iranian businessmen is to work with neighboring countries to facilitate trade flows.
The Chairman of the Iran-Brazil Chamber noted: In addition, the products imported from Brazil to Iran are food products that are not subject to sanctions, but the Iranians mainly send petrochemical products subject to sanctions.
