Khandozi further announced and explained the foreign trade statistics for the 8 months of 2023: During these 8 months, we had a total of 24.7 million tonnes of imports worth 42.1 billion of dollars ; In terms of weight, our imports increased by around 4% and in terms of value, by around 12%. The Minister of Economy said: We had 27% more non-oil exports than last year by weight, but the drop in world prices meant that we did not have much increase in terms of value.
Khandozi said: The second point is the exchange relationship, and the lack of complexity in the Iranian economy due to technology has caused the average value of a fixed weight of exported goods to be less than the number of imports. For example, bulk products are exported and, compared to a mobile phone, or products with more advanced technology are imported with more foreign exchange.
He said: We must be careful not to take the wrong path and give ourselves the wrong address on the path to transition to a non-oil, export-oriented economy.
He continues: But where are the stray animals? In the experiences we have had in East Asia and other parts of the world, they distinguish between good and evil; That is, if economies seek competitiveness, they should evolve on the basis of their internal empowerment, of course, not in the sense of being confined within borders, but in the sense that the roots of competitiveness must be within an economy. and they should not resort to artificial respiration or assistance.
