Iran will soon be connected to the Russian credit card network.
The commercial advisor of the Iranian Embassy in Russia announced on Monday in a conversation with the Izvestia newspaper: It is likely that in the coming months Iran will be connected to Mir Russia's credit and debit card network.

According to Mohsen Rahimi, work is currently underway to prepare the necessary technical infrastructure, although the implementation of this system will take time.
Rahimi stressed that this action takes place as Russia and Iran continue their efforts to strengthen economic relations.
Moscow and Tehran have strengthened their relations in the face of Western sanctions.
According to Mikhail Khachaturian, professor at the Moscow Financial University, the trade turnover between the two countries last year amounted to $4 billion and there is potential for further growth, including in the manufacturing, mechanical engineering and transportation sectors.
According to him, testing of the Mir payment system, considered an alternative to Russian Visa and Mastercard cards, could begin in late summer or early autumn in Iran.
In 2022, Moscow was hit by a wave of Western sanctions over its military operations in Ukraine, and many Russian banks were cut off from Swift, Visa and Mastercard.
In response to these sanctions, the Russian government began promoting the national Mir system as a reliable alternative.
According to this report, experts emphasize that the Iranian economy has adapted to this situation despite decades of pressure caused by numerous international sanctions, and that Russia can use the experience of the Islamic Republic to resist the foreign pressures.
